You can schedule your exam on-line; comfortably fill out your forms at your home or office; and even virtually try on frames from our custom-curated optical (We can even have your selected frames waiting for you when you visit us).

Once you arrive, you will receive a warm greeting to our comfortable welcome area: And children have their own waiting area with wholesome movies, books and fun toys. Soon our friendly, skilled technician will take you to our state-of-the-art Pretesting Room, where you will enjoy a preliminary automated vision and eye health screening using technology meeting Dr. Fairborn’s high standards for excellent care. After the Doctor reviews the findings of these tests, you will enjoy meeting one of the city’s only Board Certified, Berkeley educated, award-winning optometric physicians. And, Dr. Fairborn is the only optometric physician- patent attorney in the US… So you can rest assured he is detail-oriented and appreciates technology.

We value your time, so we use specialized equipment to make your exam as efficient and effective as possible. So while you won’t get the 7-minute exam typical of many commercial optometry offices, you won’t have to sit through unnecessary time-consuming tests either. With more than 25 years of experience and a commitment to on-going training, Dr. Fairborn selectively leverages technology to give you the best possible annual vision exam and eye health screening. Did you know that your Northside Vision Comprehensive Annual Exam includes screenings for glaucoma (a leading cause of blindness, with no early warning-signs), cataracts, dry eye, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, eye cancer and even some neurological issues (including brain tumors)? Early detection saves lives and your precious eyesight.

When your examination is complete, you will be treated to a customized treatment plan and a thorough explanation of your vision and eye health. Dr. Fairborn then will review your options and carefully listen to your concerns and address any questions you may have. For patients needing vision correction, we offer a wide range of competitively priced contact lenses (and training), as well as a beautifully curated selection of eyewear, expertly fitted by highly-trained optical sales staff who are dedicated to helping you find frames and lenses that will help you look and see your best.
